Enjoy what we do

Sheffield University Theatre Company (SuTCo) produces eight shows per year, and has firmly established its place as a working committee in Sheffield Students’ Union.  Our shows are performed in the University Drama Studio, a church-converted theatre on Glossop Road.

Recent years have seen SuTCo continue to grow and expand into multiple disciplines, giving us the chance to work with other creative societies.  We have a close relationship with SUPAS, the Performing Arts Society, giving both societies a huge network of performers and technicians to ensure that all their work is consistently high-quality and fun to be involved with – whether your interests lie in plays, musicals or both.  2011 saw us acquire a weekly Sunday slot with the Union station Forge Radio, which we use to broadcast radio plays.  Many of our members have collaborated with the Filmmaking Society, including work on projects raising awareness of domestic violence.  We have also set up links with PhotoSoc, to ensure high quality photography for our shows.

Our charity work is also extensive.  Our continued involvement with RAG in producing the bi-ennial Charity Musical brings an enormous team together to create a one-night-only show in just 24 hours, with proceeds going to Cavendish Cancer Care.  Many of our members also contribute to the Platform Performance Festival, a weekend of performance of all varieties in a huge range of venues across the Students’ Union, with money raised going to various charities.
